WWE SmackDown (12/12/25) was a mixed show that leaned heavily on strong performances to carry the night. Cody Rhodes opened SmackDown before being confronted by NXT Champion Oba Femi. Femi declared himself the future and warned Cody that his time was over. Rhodes fired back, reminding Femi he took John Cena’s final World Title match and teasing their clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Ilja Dragunov defended the WWE United States Championship against Tommaso Ciampa in a hard-hitting main event. After the bell, #DIY attacked Dragunov until Carmelo Hayes made the save. The Wyatt Sicks called out the MFT over the WWE Tag Team Titles, with the MFT responding and promising to take the belts next week. Lash Legend picked up a big win over Alexa Bliss, while Je’Von Evans defeated The Miz to keep his momentum rolling. Jade Cargill attacked Michin backstage and later stood tall in the ring after flattening her with a chokeslam. The Terror Twins closed the show by defeating Aleister Black and Zelina Vega. Mike Santana interrupted and announced he will challenge Kazarian for the TNA Championship at Genesis, locking in a huge January showdown. Team NXT cut a heated promo on Team TNA as the cross-brand rivalry kept escalating. Lexis King defeated Matt Cardona, and soon after it was revealed that Cardona is OUT of next week’s steel cage match. Meanwhile, Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside talked about respect before Tessa Blanchard and Victoria Crawford interrupted, with Tessa making it clear she will take the Knockouts Title when she wants. The Elegance Brand scored a tag win, and Rich Swann officially quit First Class… until AJ Francis attacked him from behind. Cedric Alexander earned a major opportunity by winning a Six-Way Match to become the number one contender to the X-Division Championship. The System kept recruiting backstage before beating Sinner & Saint. The Righteous confronted The Hardys with ominous praise, and Santino Marella announced he will replace Cardona in the cage match next week.
